Dr. Liefshitz is a licensed clinical psychologist with 20 years of experience in working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Dr. Liefshitz has a rich experience of working in a variety of settings, providing individual and group therapy, and various psychological assessments. In her private practice, she works to help people with diverse psychological conditions, those who struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, loss, depression, mood and personality disorders, relationship issues, and productivity/creativity challenges.
Background
Dr. Liefshitz holds her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. She completed the post-doctoral program at the Menninger Clinic, Baylor College of Medicine, and received her MA in clinical psychology from Columbia University.
Dr. Liefshitz’ background incorporates such specialized clinical areas as the processes of psychotherapy with personality disorders; working with trauma; psychological assimilation and accommodation; attachments patterns in the context of childhood development; concepts of self-perception and sexuality. Dr. Liefshitz’ training includes neuropsychology.
Therapeutic Approach
Dr. Liefshitz believes that working empathically and with genuine engagement leads to alleviation of problematic patterns and discomforts that often bring the person to therapy. Understanding the importance of being heard, she strives to promote openness in communication. Nurturing self-awareness and providing acceptance and understanding are the keystones of psychotherapy.
The journey of psychotherapy involves exploration and self-questioning that leads the person to new and deeper levels of understanding of behaviors and conflicts. Searching for psychological balance helps to rediscover the meanings and values, promotes maturity and self-understanding, and brings about lasting, positive changes of psychological growth and fulfillment.
Dr. Liefshitz incorporates a wide scope of concepts that help to investigate, enrich, and integrate understanding of a person’s cognitive, perceptual, and emotional styles and their interaction.
Practice
Dr. Liefshitz conducts individual psychotherapy for adults of all ages, adolescents, and couples and family therapy. She has special training and experience in working with psychological trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, and family systems.
Trained in psychoanalysis, Dr. Liefshitz’ approach is psychoanalytic and psychodynamic. She also strongly believes in an integrative approach to adapt to the individual needs of patients, using cognitive, behavioral, and systemic approaches.

The first step will be a brief phone call to establish if the work of psychotherapy can proceed productively. If so, the second step would be scheduling an initial consultation, during which you may expect questions about the reasons for seeking help and some background information. This helps to determine ways forward. and initial goals for working together. Additionally, logistics such as time, frequency of sessions, and the cost of treatment will be discussed. Dr. Liefshitz does not take insurance. For certain cases, a lower scale fee can be set based on financial circumstances.
